Heather Cain Truitt

Associate

    Heather Truitt is an associate in the Casualty Department handling matters involving premises and retail liability, negligent security, automobile liability, and general casualty matters.

    Prior to joining Marshall Dennehey, Heather was an associate at a Central Florida insurance defense law firm with a primary focus on defending individuals and insurers in automobile liability suits and PIP litigation. In addition to handling those matters pre-suit and throughout litigation at the trial court level, she also prepared appellate pleadings in those matters.  She handled SIU matters for both automobile insurers and homeowners' insurers. Heather began her legal career as an Assistant Public Defender for the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit of Florida (Tampa, FL) where she tried numerous jury trials and non-jury trials and worked in the Forensic Behavioral Health Intervention Unit, which handled all Baker Act hearings and worked up appropriate cases for potential Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity defenses.

    Heather earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Certificate in International Relations from the University of Florida.  She graduated cum laude from Stetson University College of Law.  During her time in law school, Heather was a judicial intern for the Honorable Elizabeth A. Kovachevich of the Middle District of Florida, Tampa, FL.  She also completed a summer internship with Court Counsel’s Office for the Sixth Judicial Circuit of Florida and attended a study abroad program at Tianjin University in Tianjin, China.  

    Heather is a member of the Seminole County Public Schools Community Leadership Academy for the 2022-2023 term. She previously served as a Board Member of Primrose Inc. and in 2015 – 2019 she served on the Planning Committee for WineQuest, which benefits Quest, Inc.

    Outside of her law practice, Heather spends time with her husband and their two sons.  She enjoys exploring Central Florida, watching rocket launches with her boys, cooking, and visiting U.S. National Parks.
