E. Chandler Hosmer

Senior Counsel

    Chandler joined the firm's Health Care Department in 2004 and concentrates his practice in the areas of medical malpractice, automobile liability and premises liability. Chandler has personally handled between 750 and 1,000 medical malpractice cases and has taken approximately 100-150 cases to trial, almost all of which were tried to jury.

    Chandler has managed an entire department of medical malpractice attorneys (eight trial attorneys, eight associate attorneys and six paralegals). He has represented a large manufacturer of asbestos products in product liability and negligence cases and has represented a large elevator manufacturer in product liability cases. He has also handled many construction accident cases.

    Chandler received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Bucknell University in 1975 and his juris doctor from Seton Hall University School of Law in 1978.

    Chandler is admitted to practice before the state and federal courts in Pennsylvania and has been admitted pro hac vice in various states throughout the country. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the Philadelphia Bar Association, the Defense Research and the Trial Lawyers Association. Chandler has also served on the faculty of Dickinson Law School's Trial Advocacy Seminar.

    In the past, Chandler has served as a chairman for the Radnor Township Zoning Hearing Board. He has also acted as a coach for the Radnor-Wayne Little League and the Radnor-Wayne Soccer League.

    Significant Representative Matters

    Defense verdict in a Philadelphia medical malpractice case against a major plaintiff's medical malpractice firm, where the demand was $20,000,000.

    Defense verdict in a case where the defendant doctor admitted significant alterations to the medical chart of the plaintiff's minor.

    Defense verdict in a Philadelphia case involving the alleged delay in delivering a baby, delay that resulted in alleged brain damage.
