Attorney successfully represented an Emergency Medicine physician in a case in which a 57 year old female came to the Emergency Room and was treated for complaints which defendant felt were the result of a thyroid disorder. The patient was referred back to her family physician. Three weeks later, the patient came back with significant G-I type complaints and ultimately had a bowel perforation and died of sepsis. The case was defended on both standard of care and causation. The jury returned a verdict that the physician was not negligent.
