Marshall Dennehey's In-House Band Named Regional Qualifier in 13th Annual Fortune Battle of the Bands Competition

Philadelphia, PA – "Class Action," the in-house rock and roll band at Marshall Dennehey Warner Coleman & Goggin, has been named a regional qualifier in the 13th Annual Fortune Battle of the Corporate Bands Competition, the law firm announced today. Comprised primarily of attorneys, with some IT and Marketing personnel mixed in, the band will compete at the Eastern Regional Finals Competition on Saturday, June l, in Hoboken, New Jersey. The top two finalists in each region, plus two wild card selections, will advance to the final round of competition at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland this fall.

Fortune Battle of the Corporate Bands is a partnership between Fortune magazine and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, and the competition supports the educational mission of the Museum. The annual event provides amateur, company-sponsored bands with the opportunity to step out of the conference room and celebrate their passion for music. Class Action was selected based upon its CD submission, and beat out bands from much larger corporations to make it to the Regional Finals level.

According to one of Class Action's founding members, Steve Ryan, shared musical talents and an affinity for rock and R&B/soul music led him and attorneys including Frank Wickersham, Brad Goewert and Bill Conklin to form the band more than ten years ago. What started as a small blend of guitars, vocals, drums and a sax, has since developed into a full-fledged show band that includes guitars, bass, drums, keyboards, and a 4-piece horn section. Meeting once a week for practice, the band has stayed true to its musical roots, and has played at numerous in-house law firm events through the years, including holiday parties and various other charitable and social events.

"This firm has always been known not only for its good lawyers, but also for an esprit de corps and corporate culture that encourages having fun, with a great sense of camaraderie," said Ryan. "This emanates from the Executive Committee on down to the rank and file. And when the band starts to play, everyone gets down."

In addition to the early members, Class Action instrumentalists and vocalists include Howard Dwoskin, Marty Coleman, Conrad Radcliffe, Dan Krebbs, James Gicking, Ed Galang, Chris Boyle, Jr., Mark Mattioli, Brad Goewert, Joseph L. Hoynoski, III, Adam Geer, Jodi O'Connor and Nicolai Schurko.

The Regional Finals will be held at the legendary Hoboken music venue, Maxwell's, starting at 12 noon.  The event is open to the public (all ages), and tickets may be obtained by visiting http://www.ticketfly.com/purchase/event/265487?utm_medium=bks.
