On the Pulse...Profile of Our NY2 Office

Office windows overlooking the South Street Seaport and the Brooklyn Bridge, which spans the East River between Manhattan and Brooklyn, provide a perfect nautical setting for MDWC&G's newest addition to the firm.

We are proud to announce the addition of maritime litigation attorneys Daniel McDermott and Edward Radzik, together with seven dedicated colleagues. Their prior firm was established in 1948 and regularly handles complex maritime and admiralty matters, including maritime construction, personal injury, comprehensive general liability, Rule B Attachments and cargo recovery work. Matthew Schorr, who heads the Maritime Litigation Practice at Marshall Dennehey, had worked with Dan and Ed at their predecessor firm and facilitated their introduction to MDWC&G.

Dan McDermott is a shareholder of the firm and handles maritime defense litigation, representing contractors and local municipalities (e.g., the City of New York) in construction/rehabilitation projects around the metropolitan area. Dan has been very active in the maritime industry. In his capacity as Chair of the Uniformity of Laws Committee of the Maritime Law Association, he advises the Board on requests for amicus briefs on Writs of Certiorari to the U.S. Supreme Court. He has also been a Director of the Marine & Insurance Claims Association for more than 25 years.

Ed Radzik is a shareholder who handles complex cargo recovery matters in federal court and through maritime arbitration. Ed has also been active in admiralty Rule B Attachments matters pending in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. He is also the Chair of the Cargo Committee of the Maritime Law Association and is co-author of its Cargo Newsletter.

A former partner of McDermott & Radzik will play a new role at MDWC&G as "Of Counsel." James (Jim) Ruddy primarily handles cargo matters, both ocean and inland marine, negotiating many cargo recovery claims. He brings over 30 years of substantial experience to his new role.

William (Bob) Connor, another maritime veteran practicing in excess of 30 years, dedicates his time to matters in the cargo field. In addition, Bob currently represents a major airline on liability claims.

Matthew Loesberg is an associate with 20 years experience defending air carriers, freight forwarders and transportation logistics entities.

Lori Quinn started with McDermott & Radzik as a paralegal and through her dedication has become an outstanding litigator in the cargo recovery field.

Crystal Moroney interned at a major New York corporate litigation firm and is currently assisting on several major cases spearheaded by the shareholders. Crystal has also been involved in complex commercial litigation and ship financing transactions.

Laura Block is a recent graduate of New York Law School during which time she was an extern to the McDermott & Radzik firm having learned the nuances of admiralty and marine law. She was granted the Admiralty Law Award from New York Law School at graduation.
