Defense Digest On The Pulse … Roseland, New Jersey Office Profile The North New Jersey office of Marshall, Dennehey, Warner, Coleman & Goggin is located in Roseland, New Jersey, five miles west of Route 280 from Exit 145 off the Garden State Parkway. The office was opened in 1993 with two attorneys, Howard Mankoff and Joseph Manning. In the approximate 11 years since the office has been open, it has grown to 18 lawyers, one paralegal, and a graduate attorney. In an effort to provide cost-effective legal services to our clients, this office handles cases venued in the central counties of the state of New Jersey, Middlesex and Monmouth Counties, and the counties north thereof, including Essex, Union, Hudson, Bergen, Passaic, Morris, Sussex, Warren, Hunterdon, and Somerset Counties. The office is unified in its commitment to provide quality legal services to the firm's clients. Through hard work and dedication, this office has been credited with achieving favorable litigation results for our clients, including, most recently, a defense verdict obtained by George Helfrich in a casualty case involving serious injuries and a $2.6 million demand. The Roseland office is divided into three practice groups: Workers' Compensation, Professional, and Casualty. The Workers' Compensation Department is four-lawyers strong and is supervised by Stephanie Shupack. This department boasts 33 years of combined experience. The Professional Practice Group is supervised by Howard Mankoff, a New Jersey bred lawyer with 22 years of experience. The Professional Group handles a variety of matters, including, but not limited to: legal malpractice, accounting malpractice, employment, construction defect, architects and engineers, coverage, and appeals. Joseph Manning supervises the Casualty Practice Group. Among the cases handled by this group are retail liability, products liability, charitable institution liability, premises liability, motor vehicle liability, and public entity liability claims. A large number of these cases are handled and overseen by George Helfrich, a New Jersey born and bred lawyer with 25 years of experience. The Casualty Group also has a Medical Malpractice Subgroup, supervised by William Buckley. Unfortunately, we do not have the space to mention each individual attorney in this office by name and to list each of their accomplishments. However, we can say that the attorneys in our Roseland office, both individually and as a whole, have developed a reputation within the state of New Jersey of being sound and competent legal practitioners who are respected by both the courts and their peers and who do well for their clients. We share with you a compliment made about this office by a well-known Essex County judge to one of our attorneys: this office has very fine New Jersey bred lawyers (specifically naming George Helfrich, Howard Mankoff, and Wendy Smith, a lawyer in the Roseland office's Professional Group, who largely handles construction defect matters) which is unlike many other out-of-state firms who have set up offices in New Jersey. We have found that the perception of our office among the New Jersey courts and law firms – being essentially a New Jersey firm, as opposed to an out-of-state firm – to be extremely beneficial and something that sets us apart from other out-of-state law firms with New Jersey satellite offices.
