Rob Stanko is a shareholder in the Casualty Department, where he defends insureds and self-insured entities against catastrophic injury claims in state and federal court related to product liability, premises liability and commercial transportation.  Rob is responsible for identifying and implementing litigation strategies to accommodate the particular intricacies of each case he handles.  He has thrived in this role, obtaining several summary judgments and successfully defending numerous matters at arbitration and trial.   

Rob previously served as a law clerk to the Honorable Thomas G. Saylor, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. Since 2014, Rob has been selected by Super Lawyers as a Rising Star in the field of Civil Litigation Defense, a recognition awarded to no more than 2.5 percent of attorneys under the age of 40 in the region.

Rob currently serves as the Chairman of the Editorial Board of Young Lawyer, a publication of the Legal Intelligencer,  the oldest daily legal newspaper in the United States.  In addition to being an avid golfer, Rob is the captain of the Marshall Dennehey basketball and softball teams.

Significant Representative Matters

  • Successfully defended operator of luxury hotel in an eleven-day jury trial in a complex case involving security.

  • Secured a defense verdict on behalf of a commercial food product manufacturer in a case involving a partial hand-amputation.

  • Obtained a defense verdict on behalf of a nationally recognized non-profit organization in a claim involving commercial transportation.

  • Secured a defense verdict on behalf of a transit authority in the Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas following a three day trial.  The jury returned a verdict of no negligence, where the plaintiff was claiming permanent disability after live trolley wires fell and struck the vehicle he was in.

  • Obtained dismissal of action against international hotel operator on jurisdictional grounds in case involving significant personal injuries.

  • Secured voluntary dismissal of medical device manufacturer in matter involving a fatality of a clinical trial participant.

  • Drafted a successful Motion for Judgment on the Pleadings in federal court, securing the dismissal of an international tour operator in a complex death case sounding in maritime and admiralty law.

  • Obtained multiple summary judgments on behalf of nationally recognized businesses within the Philadelphia area involving premises liability matters.
