
Robert focuses his practice on medical malpractice, nursing home liability and state board disciplinary actions. He has handled several hundred medical malpractice actions and has represented physicians and physical therapists at state board disciplinary hearings. As a member of the Health Care Department, Robert's area of practice includes civil defense, primarily medical, dental, nursing and nursing home liability defense.
Robert has successfully obtained favorable trial verdicts in medical negligence and wrongful death cases, including matters involving anesthesiology, radiology, dental, emergency medicine, orthopedics, internal medicine, obstetrics/gynecology and general/vascular surgery. He has taken approximately 75 cases to trial, almost all of which were tried to a jury. Ninety percent of Robert's verdicts were defense verdicts, and roughly 25 of his cases ended in a verdict or settlement significantly below the settlement demands.
Robert is admitted to the New Jersey Bar, the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. He received his juris doctor from Seton Hall University School of Law in 1990. He is also a 1987 magna cum laude graduate of Monmouth University, where he was a W. R. Hotchkiss Foundation Scholar.
Robert is a member of the Medical Malpractice Committee of the New Jersey State Bar Association, as well as a member of the Arthur T. Vanderbilt Inn of Court and the Essex County Bar Association. He has been appointed as special counsel to the state of New Jersey in connection with the defense of medical malpractice claims. He has also lectured before various medical societies.
Robert acts as vice president and coach for the Caldwell/West Caldwell Soccer Club.
