On The Pulse...Other Notable Achievements Arbitrations

William Z. Scott (Bethlehem, PA) was elected President of the Pennsylvania Bar Institute for a one-year term starting 6/22/07. PBI is the continuing legal educational arm of the PA Bar Association and runs over 1000 CLE programs and publishes numerous books on PA law and practice every year.

Armand Della Porta (Wilmington, DE) was elected President of the Pennsylvania Defense Institute (PDI) at the Annual Conference held at the Borgata Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey, from September 19, through September 21, 2007. Armand's term as President will run from September 2008 to September 2009. Armand is the current Executive Vice President and PDI's 2007 Annual Conference Chair.

Chuck Craven (Philadelphia, PA) was formally inducted as a Fellow of the prestigious American Academy of Appellate Lawyers ("AAAL") in Boston, MA on September 28, 2007. Chuck is the seventh Fellow elected from Pennsylvania.

Matthew Keris (Scranton, PA) was elected to the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Defense Institute as Director of the Middle District-North at PDI's Annual Conference recently held at the Borgata Resort in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Kimberly Boyer-Cohen (Philadelphia, PA) recently served as a panelist at ACI's conference on Retaining and Promoting Female Attorneys held in New York City, where she spoke on the topic of mentoring programs.

Steven Polansky (Cherry Hill, NJ) and Keith Heinold (Philadelphia, PA) were invited by the American Association of Managing General Agents to teach a class on product liability insurance claims and coverage at the AAMGA University in Scottsdale, Arizona.

The Chair of the Grove City College Board of Trustees appointed Sam Casolari (Akron, OH) to serve as Chair of the Committee on Governance. The Committee on Governance is charged with the recruitment, reappointment, and re-evaluation of Trustees and the Board of Trustees as a whole, as well as the election and re-election of offices of the Board. The Governance Committee is responsible for all matters concerning the Governance of the Board of Trustees, the awarding of Honorary Degrees, and reporting to the Board on issues concerning conflicts of interests, committee evaluations and evaluations concerning officers of the college. As Chair of the Committee on Governance, Sam also serves as a member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees.

Marshall, Dennehey, Warner, Coleman & Goggin was awarded third place for matter-centric workspace design during the recent International Legal Technology Association's (ILTA) annual conference. The 2007 MCC Design Awards were co-sponsored by Baker Robbins & Company and Interwoven, Inc. MDWC&G was among fifteen finalists selected to present. We were especially pleased with the award because several mega firms were among the finalists.
