On The Pulse ... Other Notable Achievements

Butler "Buck" Buchanan (Philadelphia) recently made a presentation to and participated in a panel discussion directed to African-American, Latino, and Asian law students from Rutgers-Camden, Villanova, Temple, and Widener Law Schools on interviewing techniques and how law students can effectively market themselves to law firms. The workshop was co-sponsored by The Hispanic Bar Association of Pennsylvania, The Asian Bar Association of the Delaware Valley, and the Barristers Association of Philadelphia.

Steven Polansky (Cherry Hill) recently spoke at the National Business Institute's seminar, Bad Faith Litigation in New Jersey, in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.Wagner, Mary

Mary Wagner (Philadelphia) recently spoke at the Pennsylvania Bar Association's Workers' Compensation Law Section's annual Fall Section Meeting. Mary gave a presentation on recent developments in workers' compensation law.

Cynthia Brennan (Philadelphia) recently spoke at the Pennsylvania Bar Institute's continuing education lecture in Atlantic City, New Jersey for the annual CLE Down the Shore. Her lecture was on evidence, specifically Frye, and the admissibility of scientific evidence.

Jason Banonis (Bethlehem) has been appointed to the Zoning Hearing Board for Lower Saucon Township. His responsibilities will include hearing variance appeals from the township's zoning laws.

Scott Gemberling (Philadelphia) was the course planner for the recent Alcohol in Civil Cases seminar presented by the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, which took place in Mechanicsburg, Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Jacqueline Canter (Philadelphia) recently spoke at the National Business Institute's Civil Trial From Start to Finish: A Practical Approach to Trying a Civil Case in Philadelphia seminar.

Chuck Craven recently began to serve as the appointed Chair of the Rules Committee of the Council of Appellate Lawyers and as the newsletter Editor for the Appellate Advocacy Committee of the ABA's Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section.

James Pocius (Scranton) recently spoke before 600 people at the National Workers' Compensation Conference run by SEAK with Dr. David Cooper. The topic was Golden Age Problems Equal Workers' Compensation Gold.

Steve Ryan (Norristown) recently spoke at the Summer Meeting of the Philadelphia Area Society for Health Care Risk Management. The meeting was attended by over 30 area hospital risk managers. His topic was Litigation Trends in the Wake of M-Care and Tort Reform.

Judd Woytek (Bethlehem) recently spoke at the National Business Institute's seminar, Advanced Workers' Compensation in Pennsylvania, in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Gary Shendell (Ft. Lauderdale) recently spoke at the Miami-Dade/Broward County, Florida State of Israel Bonds Annual CPA-Attorney Seminar. Gary's topic was entitled Professional Malpractice Insurance in a Hard Market - View from the Insured Attorney and Accountant.

AlbinsonJeff Albinson (Tampa) recently spoke at the seminar, Building and Running Your Law Practice in Florida - Advice You Can Actually Use, hosted by Lorman Education Services in Jacksonville, Florida. Jeff's session was entitled Understanding Professional Liability Insurance From Application To Reporting A Claim.

Jeff also recently spoke at a joint meeting of the Hillsborough County and Clearwater Bar Associations. The joint meeting is the annual Bar Leaders Leadership Conference. Jeff spoke regarding The Authorship of Scholarly Articles for Local Bar Publications.

Megan Cinberg (Norristown) and John Gonzales (Norristown) recently spoke at the Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors (PSATS) seminar in Bensalem, Pennsylvania.

Sam Casolari recently received special recognition by the Board of Trustees of the Marva Collins Preparatory School for service both on the Board as Treasurer as well as the school. The school provides a private, affordable education primarily to inner city youth in the Greater Cincinnati, Ohio area. The recognition occurred at the recent meeting of the MCPS Board in Cincinnati, Ohio during commencement weekend.

Tim McMahon (Harrisburg) recently presented the Pennsylvania Bar Association's annual Professional Liability Malpractice Avoidance Program to the Adams County and Franklin County Bar Associations. The program focused upon legal malpractice exposure arising from representing clients in transactional matters. The program was developed and coordinated by the Pennsylvania Bar Association's professional liability committee of which Tim is a member.

Steve Day (Newtown Square) and Donna Modestine (Newtown Square) recently presented a seminar to the physician staff at Brandywine Hospital. The topic was Managing and Disclosure of Medical Errors and focused on what constitutes "medical error," legal obligations to disclose, and practical and risk-reducing ways to discuss the issue with patients and their families.
