Martin began his career at Marshall, Dennehey, Warner, Coleman & Goggin in 2004 following his honorable discharge and retirement as a Lieutenant Colonel from the military. He concentrates his practice in the firm's Casualty Department with an emphasis in the areas of liability, asbestos/toxic tort, medical and nursing home malpractice, and insurance coverage.

Martin graduated from the Ohio State University in 1983. Upon graduation, he entered the United States Marine Corps and served as a combat engineer for five years. In 1989, Martin was selected to attend law school under the Funded Legal Education Program. In 1992, he graduated as a Sterling Honor (top 5%) from the University of South Dakota School of Law.

After law school, Martin served in the United States Marine Corps as a judge advocate on active duty during 1992 to 2004. His experiences as a judge advocate include litigation as a prosecutor, teaching as an associate professor in the Criminal Law Department, The Judge Advocate General's School, U.S. Army, and serving as a trial judge in the Piedmont Judicial Circuit, Navy-Marine Corps Trial Judiciary.

Martin dedicates some of his busy schedule to the community and participates in events like the American Cancer Society Relay for Life and Habitat for Humanity.
