Pittsburgh, PA Medical Legal Analyst Phone (412) 803-1146 Fax (412) 803-1188 email jmsimkins@mdwcg.com
Jo M. Simkins M.D. has three years experience as a medical legal analyst with over two decades of clinical experience as a general surgeon in community and academic environments. Her business experience was obtained by establishing and managing a successful solo general surgery private practice.
As a result of her surgical expertise and medical training, Dr. Simkins enhances our in-house service to clients and carriers for the defense of legal claims involving medical injuries. Her expertise in the field of medicine and paralegal training assists in defense theory development, determination of validity or inaccuracy of Plaintiff's medical theories, identification of pertinent medical facts that may influence the outcome of the case, assistance with development of cross-examination of the Plaintiff's medical expert and focused research of issues in the medical literature. In addition to medical malpractice cases, her expertise may be used in the determination and causation of medical injuries in professional liability, personal injury and employment cases. Her skills allow our firm to provide "on demand" expert medical analysis of a given case to assist the attorney with the case development and the focused selection of experts with the appropriate medical qualifications prior to the retention of outside medical experts. With immediate access to her expert medical analysis of a case, clients are assisted with the development of an early assessment of the risk and exposure in a case.
