Phillip J. Harris is a member of the firm's Professional Liability Department and focuses his practice on defending attorneys, engineers, architects, accountants, and other professionals.  Phillip has also handled complex condominium and home owner's association lawsuits, real estate and contract litigation, the defense of product liability claims, assisted with construction disputes, class actions, and personal injury and property damage claims.  A large focus of Phillip's practice is devoted to matters in federal court.

In 2003, Phillip received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Tampa. He later received his law degree from Stetson University College of Law in 2007. While in law school, Phillip was a member of the Stetson Law Review, and later served as a student editor for the Journal of International Wildlife Law. Phillip also received the book award in Research and Writing.

While in law school, Phillip served as judicial intern to District Judge Virginia M. Hernandez Covington in United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida.

Significant Representative Matters:

  • Secured complete dismissal of a plaintiff's numerous allegations against a local Florida attorney in federal court arguing theories of absolute immunity and litigation privilege.

  • Secured an award of santions, including attorneys' fees, against a Florida law firm for its mishandling of discovery in a case in federal court.  The initial settlement demand was over $150,000 and following the court's award of sancations the case settled for $17,500.
