Michael McMullen has been practicing exclusively in the area of workers' compensation since 1994. To date, he has handled over 2,000 workers' compensation matters. He has taken 60 cases to trial (40 workers' compensation and 20 non-workers' compensation cases), 20 of which were tried to a jury. He received 17 defense verdicts, and 35 of his cases ended in a verdict or settlement significantly below the settlement demands.

Michael has successfully defended a significant number of total disability and lifetime benefit cases and has obtained favorable settlements for his clients. He has had positive results in multi-respondent claims involving numerous carriers and insureds.

He has also represented a large number of supermarkets, factories, shipping and trucking companies, and drug and vitamin companies in matters relating to plant closings, total disability cases, and partial disability claims.

Michael received his undergraduate degree in History and Philosophy from Rider College in 1983. He then served as an Intelligence Officer for the United States Navy with the Naval Security Group and for the Director of the National Security Agency. He enrolled in Quinnipiac Law School in 1985 and accepted a commission as a Judge Advocate General with the United States Navy.

Upon graduation, he was stationed at Navy Legal Service Office Philadelphia. There he was both the Senior Defense and Trial Counsel, as well as the Deputy Staff Judge Advocate. He entered into private practice in 1992, while remaining active in the JAG Reserve.

Michael is currently serving as a Commander in the Naval Reserve. In his reserve capacity, he is the Staff Judge Advocate for Commander Naval Air Command Atlantic. He has previously served as an advisory counsel with the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Naval Security Group, and as the reserve Staff Judge Advocate for the Commander, European Command. His military concentration is in International and Operational Law. He was a contributing member for the US Naval Commander's Handbook.

Michael has been a frequent lecturer in the area of workers' compensation for the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education for the State of New Jersey. He has also lectured at the Naval War College and the Naval Justice School.

For a number of years, Michael has been actively involved with the Orange County Habitat for Humanity as a fundraiser.
