John C. Swartz, Jr. joined Marshall, Dennehey, Warner, Coleman & Goggin in December 2004, concentrating his practice in workers' compensation cases. He has handled several thousand workers' compensation cases as defense counsel for the employer and carrier. He has also handled several hundred liability claims and underinsured/uninsured motor vehicle claims.

John has represented a wide spectrum of employers in workers' compensation matters including manufacturing, health care facilities, restaurants, grocery stores, convenience stores, insurance companies, and trucking companies.

In Conroy v. W.C.A.B. (Perrier Group) 750 A.2d 932, (PA Cmwlth. 2000), John successfully argued that the claimant's medical evidence was legally insufficient since it was based on an inaccurate work history supplied by the claimant and refuted by the employer witnesses and documentation. The defendant's own medical evidence supported the Claimant's claim.

John graduated from Penn State University in 1988 with a Bachelor of Social Science. In 1991, he graduated from Widener University School of Law with a Juris Doctorate. Following law school, John worked at a law firm handling general civil litigation before becoming in-house counsel at The PMA Group, handling workers' compensation cases and personal injury defense. John later joined Kemper Insurance as in-house counsel litigating workers' compensation cases and general liability cases. He worked there from 1996 until 2003, before being employed by Wagenfeld Levine in Philadelphia.
