David M. Chmiel was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan.  He received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1992.  He then moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to pursue his legal studies and obtained his law degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1995.  Following graduation, David remained in Pittsburgh and worked for a small insurance defense firm concentrating in medical malpractice and general liability.

David joined Marshall, Dennehey, Warner, Coleman & Goggin in 2003 as an associate in the firm's professional liability group.  David is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and is a member of the Allegheny County Bar Association.
