Ahsan A. Jafry joined the Cherry Hill Office of Marshall, Dennehy Warner, Coleman & Goggin in 2010 as an associate in the firm's Healthcare Liability group. His primary practice consists in the defense of physician groups, individual physicians, nurses, dentists and nursing homes in health care liability matters.

Prior to joining Marshall Dennehey, Ahsan spent over four years as a Deputy Attorney General in the Tort Litigation Section of the Division of Law for the New Jersey Attorney General. In this position, he served as the defense counsel for all personal injury litigation filed against the State of New Jersey, its officials and employees. In his capacity as a Deputy Attorney General, Ahsan was the lead defense counsel for over 200 personal injury cases. His career highlights as a Deputy Attorney General include the following:

  • Obtained a defense verdict in favor of the New Jersey Department of Corrections in a  jury trial in Cumberland County Superior Court. The Plaintiff was an inmate who alleged permanent injury after fracturing his ankle in a slip and fall accident at Southwoods State Prison.
  • Defended NewJersey Transit in a two week jury trial in Atlantic County Superior Court that ended in a "hung-jury." The case involved a rear end hit of the Plaintiff's vehicle by a New Jersey Transit bus. The case later settled prior to being re-tried.
  • Defended the New Jersey Department of Transportation in a two-week jury trial in Gloucester County Superior. This was a wrongful death case with significant exposure to the State of New Jersey that settled prior to closing arguments.
  • Obtained summary judgment on behalf of the New Jersey Division of Youth and Family Services in a wrongful death case filed in Cumberland County Superior Court. The case involved the death of a two-year-old boy in a house fire. Summary Judgment was granted because the State of New Jersey had no duty to inspect the home for working smoke detectors.
  • Obtained summary judgment on behalf of the New Jersey State Police and a New Jersey State Police Detective in Camden County Superior Court in a claim filed by a City of Camden police officer who was injured while working undercover alongside the New Jersey State Police as part of the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Assignment(HIDTA). The State Police detective, who was driving an unmarked van,  inadvertently struck the City of Camden Police officer, who was on foot. Summary judgment was granted based on the absolute immunity for police pursuit.
  • Obtained summary judgment on behalf of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection in Gloucester County Superior Court. The case was filed by an elderly woman  who suffered a severe ankle fracture when a boating dock structure collapsed on State property. Summary judgment was granted because the dock was illegally built on unimproved State property.
